Can you find cheaper puppies? Of course you can!  It's so tempting to buy the cheapest puppies, but there is a very good chance that you will end up paying MORE in the long run. There are plenty of breeders who don't put as much time and effort in their puppies as we do. They sell puppies for quantity not quality.  We are often asked to price match with carelessly bred dogs, even though our puppies care far exceeds the standard for puppy raising. Here are reasons it is dangerous to buy the cheapest puppies instead of purchasing from a responsible breeder

1. The parents aren't health tested. Why is this important? Because there are many genetic diseases that can be life threatening to your dog. EMost times these diseases don't show up until around 2 years old or even later in life, so while you may be getting a health guarentee, you could stll be getting a puppy with life threatening health issues that aren't covered by your breeder. We health test all of our dogs, which means that your puppy is protected long after the health guarentee.

2. Socialization and training at a very early age is extremely important for your puppy long term. We start Early Neaurological Stimulation (ENS) and puppy culture training at only 2 days old! If you have ever seen dogs with a crippling fear of certain things like bikes or umbrellas or people wearing hats, etc? This is because they did not receive proper solcialization and training at a very early stage in brain development to help them deal with stress quickly. We support your dog's long term needs by giving it a well-balanced brain.

3. Cheap puppies are given the bare minimum to survive resulting in massive initial vet bills. Breeders who are breeding for quantity are cutting all corners like feeding cheap dog food, not feeding the puppies enough which causes aggression, not using structured vaccine and deworming protocols, and often are housed in their own feces and urine. Most of these breeders promise health guarantees and when you pick up your puppy, they are mysteriously missing paperwork. Most mill breeders provide falsified vet documents given as a check list of things that the puppies were checked for, but not actually ever seen by a vet. I work in the grooming industry so I see a high volume of dogs who come from puppy mills. Some common things I see from new pet parents who unknowingly adopted from a cheap mill breeder are urine burn/stain, kennel cough, pneumonia, ear mites, parvo, and staff infection. This typically doubles or triples the inital investment of the new puppy.

4. Structure. I can't stress this enough! It is easy to put two dogs together and have a litter of puppies. Not every dog with reproductive organs should be used for breeding! The most common problems I see on a regular basis in grooming are crooked legs that result in extremely painful limbs. Luxating patellas where the kneecap is consistently slipping out of place, which is super painful and can lead to a torn ACL  in one or both knees. This is a surgical repair of $3-5000 per knee. Another very common problem in doodles is hip displasia. Although it's seen mostly in larger breed dogs, most doodles are bred down in size too quickly which results in very bad structure/conformation. It often means they are going to have bad hips. This is not something that would show up during the duration of a health guarentee.

Hopefully you don't fall prey to the "cheap puppy". Supporting these breeders does NOT mean that you got a puppy out of a bad situation. It means that you made room for another puppy for them. Even if you do not purchase a puppy from us, please choose a reputable breeder who does all the proper testing, socialization, and veterinary care. Someone who goes above and beyond for your puppy because we all deserve a healthy pet for a lifetime!
